Sitting with your Emotions

What does that even mean. I guess I get it on the surface it sounds good. Sit with your emotions, so progressive so in touch. However, like so many things we are told will help us, it assumes that we are familiar with our emotions, that we know how to identify them, and that once we find ourselves sitting with them we will know what to do with them. Furthermore, there are so emotions that aren’t so fun to sit with, others would be more fun to experience while on a hike, going for a swim, watching a movie with someone we love… You get the point. And if we had success at Dynamic life coaching by doing things assuming you were already familiar with the baby steps we’d end this right here. Fortunately for you that’s not where we leave things. I am all about getting down to the core of things and taking them from feel good internet quotes to actions you can actually do something with.

For me this one is so much fun because I LOVE looking up words in the dictionary! Especially emotions, so often what we label as our current emotion is close, but due to lack of exposure to the vast collection of emotions there is typical something that more accurately defines what we are experiencing. The more succinctly we can define what we are experiencing the greater success we will have in knowing what to do with it. We’ll know if we actually want to sit with it, if would like it to use it as fuel to get to a different feeling, going deeper we will discover for what reason that is our emotional response to different stimuli, and how to broaden the experience, or shorten the experience. We can also learn to match our emotional response to the experience.

Emotions we will be defining (each will eventually get it’s own blog post, that will be linked here!)
